Benches as Characters
While in the editing process of Woven Branches, Book 3, The Book of Ruth, my Creative Editor made an interesting observation: The benches in the Noeware, Georgia landscape are becoming characters of their own.
I've thought a lot about this. In some ways, she was absolutely right.
The bench outside of the G.R.I.T. depot has become a place of reflection, often leading to Ruth or Allison paying R.W. a visit.
The two benches outside of the diner tend to be places when scenes transition...one drama leads to the next.
Obviously, the bench outside of City Hall is where Allison ends up regularly to catch her breath following an eye-opening Ruth revelation.
The bench beside the school brings Miss Willa and Misti Waddell together to chat about motherhood.
When is a bench not just a bench? When its location is within the world of Woven Branches.
