I had a Woven Branches reader who lives in a large urban city ask me once if I thought it was believable that a small Southern town could be as diverse as Noeware, Georgia.

I often hear from Woven Branches fans that they are the opposite of a fan of the soap opera genre. However, they can't seem to get enough of my little Southern Serial. What gives?

In book one of the Woven Branches Serial, we learn that a young Ruth Blakely has two very close female friends, Mary and Olivia. The relationship between the teenagers seemed to be almost sisterly.

I have written previously about the fact that most of my characters have been running around my head since childhood. This is certainly the case with Billy Washington. However, I never really understood exactly who he was.

As I come to the end of the pre-editing stage of book 3, I am struck by the intense storyline and the abrupt turning point in the Woven Branches novella book series.

Woven Branches, my Southern book series, has become known for shocking revelations, as well as some serious foreshadowing. Perhaps no character is a better representative of this foreshadowing than R.W., the G.R.I.T. train station's mysterious painter.

When I started preparing to release the first book in my Southern Serial book series, I had an epiphany. I thought, if I could introduce the characters of my little soap opera gradually, but before the book was actually available, maybe readers would already care about them before they even opened the book.

When writing a soap opera, one tends to get bogged down in the drama. It's easy to forget that, at the end of the day, a serial series is about the human experience. I never want to lose sight of touching family bonds.

This past January, my husband and I took a cruise in the Caribbean. We made stops in Key West, Cozumel, and Grand Cayman. My favorite port was in Belize.
