Woven Branches book series is a very diverse Southern soap opera set in a fictional South Georgia town.
Besides being racially diverse, there are prominent characters featured of various orientations.
Billy Washington, one of Noeware, Georgia's most popular citizens, is a flamboyant hash slinger in the local diner, and he moonlights as a part-time female impersonator.
Other characters seem to struggle with their sexual identities, like the back alley cruising Dr. Don Givens, or the non-monogamous Allison Edwards.
I am grateful that readers have embraced all of the Woven Branches characters in a caring way and realize that they are just like you and me...human and worthy.
